there's a reason we don't know that ramsey to leave C19 empty, but I received 2 extra 0.0022u capacitor, then I put it on "bad" FM25 (I can't tune anywhere), the magic happened, bass is here!!! but the bass may be a little bit aggressive (like Mega Bass activated), do in your own risk, and ramsey don't recommend to do this, however

This is because your FM-25B is not properly locked any longer, and the PLL is "loose" allowing the frequency to shift very easily. Having a capacitor in the place of C19 really messes up the PLL control loop so don't install it!

Sorry about resurrecting this really moldy post, but I'm having a lot of problems with bass out of my FM25B 1.2. A lot of pops and funny sounds when the source audio is bassy.

I see that C20 in my kit is 10µF, but the orientation is opposite to what has been suggested as appropriate in other equally old threads, that is with the positive plate going to pin 5 of U3. I'd always assumed that polarity of audio caps was largely unimportant with low bias voltages.

Any other ideas before I start heat up the iron to turn this thing around?

Thanks,

-C.

what helped mine more than anything was the addition of a EQ and compressor/limiter to my setup.

I added a Optiums 10 band EQ and a Alesis 3630 compressor/limiter both I found on ebay cheap. I have attached a photo of mine in action.

Darrell, is right! You can do a lot with processing to bring that big sound to the FM25B. The Behringer MDX 1600 can work wonders too with it's bass boost and enhancement of the high end; often dulled by to much processing.

I have a set up similar to Darrells, also with a Alesis 3630 compressor/limiter. I took some time, but I was able to squeeze out the sound I wanted.
