View Full Version : Phil from PEI, I have a question.
I'm the guy from New Brunswick that asked you about the FM25 for an agricultural show. I have the transmitter together and I went with a diagram of a "J-pole" antenna. I can get a range of 1KM. Am I pushing my luck with the CRTC? I am only going to use the antenna for 4 days a year. I believe the transmitter power is turned all the way up. Thanks

don't be surprised for that
I am using FM25B/FM100B with my own-built return-dipole antenna, and get 400m max range
and one more, my location is low (about the ground-level), and the antenna is just stick along the window, not using outdoor antenna (like TM100, though I have built, I am unable to use it because I am not allowed to use outdoor antenna in apartment)
I think it would be wise to turn the power down - cover only what you need to cover. For an agri show, I can't see you would need a 1 mile coverage radius. Sounds like your antenna is super efficient - so it would be wise to lower the power, before Industry Canada goes after you. If you only cover the site you need to cover and don't create any interference to anyone, I suspect they will leave you alone.
1 km - still that's probably more than needed!
