Hello, I Built an FM-10a Transmitter When
I Was A Technician at a High School, and
had the tech students go along with me step
by step. They told me, "c'mon it'll never work".....I let them finish the last 50% of the kit.
Guess What....They were amazed...and The Principal let me help them set up a small FM-Stereo Station. There were Walkman's everywhere. A Hit !
I've Long since retired, and being disabled,
I build alot of kits. I'm helping another school get set up with a Ramsey FM xmitter, but this time xtal controlled.
I have a question. Next Summer I will be Traveling To South America (Large Boat), and
I WILL NOT be near where The FCC Rules Apply.
As a matter of fact for a few months, I'll be on an Island with a population of about 3,000, and NO regulations as far as using this little gem as an fm station.
My question is, are there any simple mods, to boost the power ?
I'd Love to know, ArchieBunker416....tnx

I believe the FM25B,and FM100 both have 1 watt upgrades available. Also, they are both PLL controlled,so there won't be any drift, and the signal will stay locked at whatever frequency you set it at. ;)

The FM25B is very simple to upgrade in power.

take a look at the broadcast warehouse, veronica, NRG, and other kit sources for higher powered stuff. i really dont trust ramsey kits that are modded for higher power especially since the aviation band is right above 108 mhz.

Well, if you don't trust Ramsey kits, then don't trust Veronica either... until you have the equipment to see the results of your work. If you plan on transmitting higher powers and are worried about causing interference, be prepared to have access to equipment to check your transmission to prevent this.

While Ramsey kits and Veronica kits are both excellent products, a lot depends on the setup you put together as an end-user. A poorly matched antenna will give you more problems with interference than a slightly higher harmonic will on one kit vs. the other, but without equipment, you have no way of telling. Please look at the PM-10DC, which will greatly assist in tuning your antenna for best match, and lower chances of interference. Probably the least expensive way to do this test.

I hope this helps!
