View Full Version : TV Transmitters
I had a question about a TV transmitter, like the TV6C...is it possible to hook up one of these to your computer and broadcast video from it? How can it be hooked up if it's even possible?
THANKS!

From what I can see the input for the video is a composite input with a mono phono input for the sound.
So you would need a Y-splitter to connect the audio from your sound cards speaker out port and you would need a graphics card to convert the video signal for you.
Most 3d accellerator cards provide a composite out there are also some external VGA to composite converters that will hook into the output of your existing video card as well.
Composite video utilizes a single (Yellow) video cable to carry the video signal not to be confused with component video where the video signal is split among 3 wires and not compressed.
With a little effort its possible.

OK, thanks..my big question is, how is the video quality? Do you have to put the movie on full screen, which makes the quality go down? I'm new to this so forgive me...thanks in advance!

the quality does not go down when you view a video file in fullscreen mode -- you are simply zooming in thus revealing imperfections you didn't notice when it was in a small window.
anyway by default the video out will probably show the same thing as whats on your monitor, but some cards/drivers will allow other configurations.
Oh, OK. My computer isn't new (got it 4 years ago), and it didn't come with a video card so I'm looking on eBay. I've been looking at the TV6C transmitter, but I see that Ramsey only sells it as a kit and Hobbytron doesn't sell it..got a FM25B from HT a couple of years ago and they sold them assembled and thought they might do the TV6 the same. I also saw that small one (that claims to be the size of a quarter) but it doesn't have sound apparently. I am HORRIBLE at soldering and ruined my first FM25 trying to replace a part. Any cheap reccomendations?
