High guys,

I need some help and Im no electronic genius!

I am working on a lighting effect that requires a LED pod to slowly come to full power after being remotely triggered. I have successfully set up the remote but I need the component that will bring the power up.The elapsed time needs to be one minute or slightly longer. The system is 6 volt. Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

Thanks, Dave.

Hi Dave,

The formula T=RC should help for a simple time constant. If you know the current requirements for the LED(s) then you can calculate the dropping resistor necessary to bring the LED(s) to full illumination. The capacitor is selected based on the formula where T=seconds, R=resistor value, and C=capacitance. There are other methods if you want to spend some time building up your circuit to something more sophisticated. Do a google search on " 555 timers". There are several circuit designs that would do what you want. The RC circuit is the simplest by far and is used exensively even in the most complex of equipments.
