My AM1 has a very loud Bzzzzz on the dead carrier.Any ideas ? The modulation and range are fine. It does'nt make any differance whether there is anything connected to input or not,

Thanks,, Ernest

That is the exact same problem mine has, and nothing I have tried can stop it. I tried grounding the case, I tried a metal case, I tried RF chokes, and none worked. I am just about fed up with the AM-1 that I think I might go and get an AM-25 or even an FM-25B. AM-1 has a lot of problems and is a poorly designed circut. It has no filtering, and harmonics run wild through the whole thing. I bet that if you turn on your AM-1 and tune a radio to the end of the FM band you will hear the exact hum. Mine has the hum problem and a severe overmodulation problem. I wish that Ramsey would come out with an AM-2, a better designed AM-1 with filtering and stable frequency. Does your AM-1 go the full 1/4th a mile? Mine transmits less than 10 feet on the AM band and over 200 feet on the FM/Air band.
