Touch switch

I am having trouble with the touch switch. I can apply voltage to the A Or B circuit in terminal and the circuit works fine, but just touching the wire I don't get any thing to work. I have not connected any metal surface for the touch plate. Should I not be able to just touch the wire connected to positive in?
No other negative are connected, I didn't think I need them since within the board all negative terminals are connected.

After looking at some other designs I see they are using comparators and not NAND gates. So how can NAND gates that probably need no lower than 5 volts work from touching them?

Try attaching a metal surface to the wire. Usually the circuit will not trigger with just the wire. If necessary attace a good ground.

I thought I would get notifications when someone replied. Fixed that

So if connected to a 12v power supply the switch won't work properly? Should I ground the negative side of the power supply to the wall outlet ground or connect up to to my truck?

Grounding the unit may help.

Sometimes this is one small and simple stuff that often overlooked.
Good thing that there's a site like this.
Where people can ask for help and give some help.
