Question: I plan to start a Part 15 High School Radio station next year. I would like to do both AM and FM. The plan is to cover the school campus and parking Lot, approximaely 35 acres. What do I need as far as equipment: transmitter, mixer, limiters, filters, antenna, software, etc. Need recommendations. Kits not a problem, I have excellent soldering skills.

dear Newbie,
Go head and get FM25B,Miccrophone and mixer, the whip antenna can cover enough for yours school. I think you should order FM25B fully assembled so you don't have to spend time to sold them and get some troubles later. Your friends and the stuhents are waiting you "on the air". good luck and check your pocket $$$$

Cool Edit Pro is excellent for recording liners, promos, PSAs, Announcements, and so much more!!!! A good antenna would be really good if you want to cover that entire area perfectly. Make sure you get it as high as possible. Radio Automation software is good too. I recoment Radio Player Pro I use it ....works just great for me

Cool edit pro I have on hand. Which transmitter FM-25B or FM-100B. I have already decided to buy the tru-match antenna and put it outside at approximately 25 feet high. This year will be a very austere budget so will have limited funds and I need to make the most out what I do purchase. What about mikes and other equipment, what do I need to actually make this a viable operatiion as far as giving my students the most realistic exposure to radio broadcasting?

Dear Newbie,
Before you get transmitter, let go to these sites:
www.PCS Electronics.com
www.progressive-concepts.com
and www.hobbytron.com
compare the functions, prices, and thinking of using in the future you may need more than 1 watt...(so buy 5 watts now) .ect...

This is the best way to be in big trouble!!!
For unlicensed operation, do not use more than a few milliwatts or you will be busted. However, if you represent the institution you may apply for a LPFM radio station...
